WWE Raw returns tonight with a loaded episode that continues building toward the company’s upcoming return to Mexico City. The biggest story of the night is the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament final. As brothers Penta and Rey Fenix meet one-on-one with a championship opportunity on the line. The winner will earn a shot at Roman Reigns and the World Heavyweight Championship. When Raw heads to Mexico City on September 14. Both men have already fought their way through the tournament. With Penta defeating La Parka in the semifinals and Fenix defeating Dragon Lee to reach the final. With Roman Reigns also scheduled to return tonight, there is plenty of reason to believe the World Heavyweight Champion will have a close eye on his next potential challenger.

The Women’s Intercontinental Championship will also be defended as Raquel Rodriguez puts the title on the line against Sol Ruca. Ruca earned her rematch after picking up wins over Roxanne Perez and Lyra Valkyria, and she’ll be looking to reclaim the championship she lost to Rodriguez in July. On the men’s side, Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable is scheduled to address his upcoming title defense, while Dragon Lee and Ethan Page will face off to determine who gets the opportunity to challenge Gable. Je’Von Evans is also set to take on Dominik Mysterio, continuing a rivalry that has already seen Evans targeted by The Judgment Day.

Roman Makes a Statement

There is plenty happening outside the announced matches as well. Roman Reigns is expected to address the recent attack by Solo Sikoa and LA Knight, while the situation involving Royce Keys, OTM, The Usos and Jacob Fatu continues to develop after last week’s chaotic confrontation. Stephanie Vaquer is also scheduled to speak, adding another piece to the growing women’s division storylines heading into September. With Roman’s return, a championship tournament final, two title-related matches and several major storylines moving forward, tonight’s Raw has a lot riding on it as WWE begins setting the stage for Mexico City.
