The wrestling world mourns another loss after the unfortunate news that Jonathan Echevarria, known widely as independent wrestler Jaka, has passed away today.

Just a few days ago, Jaka was rushed to the hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was in critical condition upon arriving and has been in the ICU since.

Jaka’s sister, Annette Rivera, announced a GoFundMe page shortly after the news of his condition. The page was created to help with the medical costs and finances of this emergency.

Jaka was well known and respected on the indie wrestling scene. He began his career in 2007. He was known for his work in Beyond Wrestling, Evolve, GCW, CZW, C4, and PROGRESS Wrestling.

Promotions such as Beyond and C4 have taken to social media to pay tribute to the star since the news broke of his passing. He was only 39 years old.

Our thoughts and prayers at Turnbuckle Times go out to the entire Echevarria family during this difficult time. Fans can still donate to Jaka’s GoFundMe page here.
