Kyle Fletcher Should Have Won the AEW TNT Championship at All In 2025
On Saturday, July 12th, AEW held arguably its biggest show of the year, “All In.” All Elite Wrestling brought the biggest show of the year to Texas for the first time since its inception. There were many big matches on the card, including a massive main event between Jon Moxley and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page for the AEW World Championship. Another match we saw was Kyle Fletcher face off with Daniel Garcia, Sammy Guevara, and Dustin Rhodes for the vacated TNT Championship.
Unfortunately, earlier in the night, Adam Cole had to relinquish the title due to “health issues.” Cole said he might be away for a long time and personally thanked the fans for their years of support. We at Turnbuckle Times wish Cole a speedy recovery with whatever health issues he’s dealing with. Professional wrestling won’t be the same without Adam Cole… BAY BAY. But the show must go on. The four-way match, won by Rhodes, had a great feel-good moment on the show. However, Fletcher should have been the one to hoist the TNT Championship over his head.
Kyle Fletcher Should Have Won the AEW TNT Championship at All In 2025
Sadly, we never got a singles match between Fletcher and Cole at All In. This match would have been one of the top matches of the night. Unfortunately, due to outside circumstances, it never got to happen. Nobody is mad that Rhodes won the vacated TNT Championship. But, there is certainly an argument to be made that a title win here for Fletcher would have been a much bigger deal. Rhodes was the hometown hero, and it was a great moment seeing him win the title, but you can’t help but think that Fletcher should have been the one to win it instead.
Back in 2020, the AEW TNT Championship was made to be the top midcard championship at All Elite Wrestling. Over time, we’ve seen more titles added, like the International Championship and Continental Championship. However, the prestige of the first midcard title All Elite Wrestling ever made is certainly there. Sadly, it has fallen in stature over the years with these new titles added. However, Fletcher has all the tools to make the AEW TNT Championship mean something again.
There was a moment, especially in his rivalry with Will Ospreay, where AEW looked poised and ready to strap a rocket to the back of Fletcher. This is more than well-deserved. Fans and wrestlers alike already consider the 26-year-old star to be one of the best wrestlers in the world. He held his own with Ospreay and has shown he has what it takes to be the guy. Arguably, Fletcher is one of the few performers in professional wrestling today who one can say is the “future” of the business.
That’s a term that is thrown around a lot. However, when it comes down to it, Fletcher is one of the very few where you can say that and mean it. Fletcher had a ton of momentum entering the 2025 Owen Hart Memorial Cup Tournament. This was another spot where he very well could have been pushed and won the whole thing. However, he fell to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page in the semifinals of the tournament. Even in defeat, Fletcher put on one of the very best matches of the year with Page.
Fletcher is remaining relevant and continuing to stack wins. The quality of his competition has seemingly taken a step back. From having wars with the likes of Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, to now working with AR Fox and Mark Briscoe, is seemingly not a progression. That’s not taking anything away from Fox or Briscoe, but they’re not viewed on the same level as Ospreay or Okada. However, Fletcher should be working with the top guys in the promotion, like Kenny Omega.
AEW missed a great spot to put the AEW TNT Championship on one of their best young guys around today. Fletcher stacking wins is continuing to be a great thing, but AEW missed the ball with giving him a big payoff in the TNT Championship. Even with his strong booking lately, Fletcher has yet to get a taste of AEW gold. It is more than time to fix this matter. Despite not winning the title at All In, Fletcher should be next in line to hold it.
Fletcher can be the guy to bring prestige back to the AEW TNT Championship. Okada now holds the Unified AEW Championship. This came at All In when Okada and Omega unified the AEW Continental and International Championships. Fletcher is the right man to rebuild the AEW TNT Championship and the midcard division. A title win at All In could have been the start of the massive 2026 he undoubtedly has in store for him. Nonetheless, it’s time to strap a rocket to the back of Kyle Fletcher.
