On Saturday, August 16th, the National Wrestling Alliance returned to Long Island, NY, for one of its biggest shows of the year, “NWA 77.” The main event of the show saw Thom Latimer defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title against Thrillbilly Silas Mason. This was a stellar match between two of NWA’s biggest and baddest men on the roster. However, in the end, Mason would put Latimer away and win the coveted Ten Pounds of Gold.

Latimer won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title back at NWA 76. Latimer defeated the “Overman,” EC3, in an excellent showing. Over the next 350+ days, Latimer knocked off anyone that the NWA put in front of him. However, he arguably had his toughest challenge to date, nearly one year removed at NWA 77 against Mason. Latimer defended his title all across the world. However, to keep his reign going, he would have to get past the Southern 6’s most dominant force and walking chaos, Mason.

Mason has been on one of the best runs of his entire life lately. He is a former National Heavyweight Champion and the longest-reigning NWA JCP Southeastern Champion, holding the title for 1,000+ days and counting. However, one thing that always alluded him was the World Heavyweight Championship. At NWA 77, Mason added to his already impressive resume, capturing the coveted Tens Pounds of Gold. He celebrated in the audience and with his Southern 6 partners following the championship win. It remains to be seen where each man goes from here, but one thing we know for sure is that Mason sits atop the NWA mountain.

Be sure to catch more of Thrillbilly Silas Mason, Thom Latimer, and the rest of the fantastic NWA roster on NWA Powerrr every Tuesday on The Roku Sports Channel at 8 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. ET.
