On Saturday, August 16th, the National Wrestling Alliance returned to Long Island, NY, for its big event, “NWA 77.” One of the big marquee matches of the night saw Kenzie Paige put her NWA World Women’s Title on the line against Natalia Markova. Paige has held the World Women’s Title for over 700 days since she defeated the former champion Kamille at NWA 75. Markova won the NWA World Women’s Title last night after a stellar performance against Paige.

Markova had challenged for the title three previous times and had failed to capture it each time. Paige always had her number, whether by herself or with some help from Big Mama or Kylie. Taking nothing away from Paige, she went on to have an incredible run with the title. In May at The Crockett Cup, Paige defeated Nattie Neidhart to retain her title in another fantastic match. Paige elevated the title to a whole other level than it’s ever been on. Paige has knocked off a slew of challengers from all over the globe. She brought the title to new heights, and she deserves all the credit in the world for that.

Now with Markova leading the helm. It remains to be seen where both women go from here. However, one thing we know for sure is that the title is still in good hands with Natalia Markova. It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the NWA and, more specifically, the NWA women’s division. The NWA has one of the best women’s divisions in all of professional wrestling. That’s on full display week in and week out.
