Kenzie Paige Defends NWA World Women’s Championship Against Natalia Markova At NWA 77
On Saturday, August 16th, NWA will be making its debut at The Paramount in Huntington, NY for its big event, “NWA 77.” With much of the card still up for grabs, we are beginning to see matches announced for what is sure to be a stacked night. Additionally, this includes the latest match announcement, which is for the NWA World Women’s Championship.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Kenzie Paige will be defending her NWA World Women’s Championship against Natalia Markova at the event. This is sure to be a fierce showdown between two of the top women in the division today. Paige has been undefeated for the past two years since she won the title at NWA 75 from Kamille. However, Markova could prove to be her biggest challenge to date.
Paige’s NWA World Women’s Championship reign is nearing 700 days. By the time NWA 77 rolls around, it will have topped that massive milestone. Her upcoming opponent appears to be next in line for a run with The Burke. This is truly shaping up to be a can’t-miss match. Despite having opportunities, Markova has not been able to capitalize on any of them in the past. During 2024, Paige got the better of Markova in a series of matches on NWA television. In 2023, Kamille was able to stop Markova in her tracks, as well. Should Paige be able to win this match, can anyone stop her before she breaks Kamille’s record of being the longest-reigning NWA World Women’s Championship of all time, with 812 days in the record book?
Markova earned this opportunity by defeating Kenzie’s younger sister, Kylie Paige, in a #1 Contender’s match. This was a fun match, which Kylie made very personal, attacking Markova before the bell even rang. Kylie went on to dominate most of the match. However, she just couldn’t put Markova away. Ultimately, Markova landed a Beautiful Destruction kick and put Paige away with the underhook DDT. This was an excellent match. Don’t miss Kenzie Paige vs. Natalia Markova on August 16th live from Huntington, NY.
