Tonight’s WWE Raw has a pretty interesting mix of established stars and lucha libre coming into the show. The biggest match is Penta vs. Laredo Kid, which kicks off a tournament to determine who will challenge World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns when Raw heads to Mexico City later this year. WWE is bringing in luchadores from Raw, SmackDown and AAA for the tournament, so there’s a bigger story behind this match than just a first-round win. Penta feels like an obvious favorite, but Laredo Kid has the kind of athletic style that could make this much closer than expected.

There’s also some unfinished business elsewhere on the card. Akira Tozawa will face Austin Theory after Tozawa attacked Theory on last week’s Raw following Bron Breakker’s win over Joe Hendry. It’s a chance for Theory to shut down Tozawa and reassert himself, while Tozawa has plenty to gain by scoring a meaningful singles victory. Beyond the matches, Becky Lynch is scheduled to appear live after returning last week and immediately putting her attention on Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. Lynch also came face-to-face with Stephanie Vaquer, setting up another layer of tension heading into tonight.

The other major question is what Stephanie Vaquer has to say. After making her shocking return last week, Vaquer is scheduled to address the WWE Universe tonight, and that could easily become one of the most important segments of the show depending on where WWE wants to take her next. With Becky back, Vaquer back, and the Roman Reigns challenger tournament getting underway, Raw has several storylines moving at once rather than relying on one headline match. Raw airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix, and the Penta–Laredo Kid match is probably the one I’d keep an especially close eye on.
