WWE NXT Preview 9/15
NXT has a pretty big opportunity waiting at the top of tonight’s card. Tony D’Angelo, Mason Rook and Saquon Shugars will go one-on-one-on-one with a future NXT Championship match on the line. All three earned their way into the match last week, but teaming together is one thing and fighting for a title opportunity is another. Tony D’Angelo has the experience and knows what it’s like to be around the championship picture, while Rook and Shugars have a chance to pick up the biggest win of their NXT careers. With Grayson Waller waiting for whoever comes out on top, there’s a lot riding on this one.
Elsewhere, Kali Armstrong takes on Lizzy Rain, while Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux team up to face Osiris Griffin and Cutler James. These matches might not have the same stakes as the Triple Threat, but they’re still important for the wrestlers involved. A strong performance can go a long way in NXT, especially with so many people trying to break through at the same time. It wouldn’t be surprising to see one of these matches turn into something bigger once the night is over.
Then there’s the situation between Myles Borne and Tavion Heights. Borne is set to publicly apologize to Heights, but whether that actually settles things remains to be seen. Considering everything that has happened between them, it would be a little too easy if this were simply a sincere apology with no strings attached. That could make this segment one of the more interesting parts of the show. Overall, tonight’s NXT feels like a show where the pieces are being put in place for what comes next, and the Triple Threat should be the biggest test of the night.
