On Sunday, June 28th, TNA Wrestling returned to the Agganis Arena in Boston, MA, for one of its biggest shows of the year, Slammiversary. The event was headlined by a match that saw Nic Nemeth cash in his Call Your Shot Championship Contract on Mike Santana to challenge for the TNA World Championship. In October of 2025, Nemeth, alongside Frankie Kazarian, earned his shot in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match at Bound For Glory. There have been times when Nemeth flirted with cashing in the championship contract. However, it wasn’t until Sunday that we finally saw that shot come to fruition.

However, the action didn’t stop there. We also saw The System’s Bear Bronson & Brian Myers put their TNA World Tag Team Championships on the line against The Broken Hardys, The Righteous, and The Great Hands. Also, Lei Ying Lee put her TNA Knockouts Championship on the line against her former best friend, Xia Brookside. Mustafa Ali put his TNA International Championship on the line against a mystery opponent. We also saw a non-title match between Moose & Eddie Edwards. So, what were the top three moments of the night?

3. Uhaa Nation Debuts In TNA Wrestling

In the build-up to Slammiversary, we found out that a former WWE Champion would be making their way to TNA at the big event. So, rumors began running rampant, especially with all of the recent releases. As for Mustafa Ali, he was gearing up to defend his TNA International Championship against a mystery opponent. Spoiler alert, this would certainly coincide with the mystery ex-WWE Champion who was going to show up. In one of the biggest moments of the night, we saw the TNA Wrestling debut of perhaps one of the most underrated wrestlers WWE has ever seen, Uhaa Nation.

Nation, formerly known as Apollo Crews, saw his fair share of work in his time in the WWE. However, it’s fair to say that he always deserved more. He got a United States Championship run, which was fun to see. However, for his talent, not to have been involved in any main storylines on television is just a huge missed opportunity. Uhaa Nation answered Ali’s Open Challenge for his TNA International Championship. However, he wasn’t the only one. Also, Rich Swann got involved to force a three-way. Ali certainly had his work cut out for him, as he had to go up against not one, but two severely underrated talents.

It was truly amazing to see Uhaa Nation back in a wrestling ring. As I said above, he has so much potential as a wrestler, but for whatever reason, it never translated in the WWE. Now that he’s indeed with TNA Wrestling, he gets to set out to showcase his talents to a brand new audience. Ironically, Fabian Aichner has been doing the same thing in TNA. Uhaa Nation in TNA feels right. Despite coming up just short in his first night with the company, Uhaa Nation got to show exactly what WWE missed in him. The future of Nation in TNA is super bright.

2. Xia Brookside Captures The TNA Knockouts Championship

In one of the night’s big marquee matches, we saw two former friends collide as Lei Ying Lee put her TNA Knockouts Championship on the line against Xia Brookside. Brookside was looking for her first title win in nearly 11 years. Despite being one of the best talents in any company she’s been in, she hasn’t exactly been draped in gold. That all had the opportunity to change tonight. However, she had a very tough competitor in front of her, as Lei Ying Lee looked to hold on to that title. She has shown that everything you thought you knew about her from NXT, forget all of it.

The two were close friends for quite some time. Heading back to Rebellion in April of this year, everything simply changed. When Lee challenged the former champion, NXT’s Ariana Grace, for the title, she seemingly had the match won. However, Brookside had other plans. Brookside, whether it was due to jealousy or something else, turned on Lee. She assisted Grace in retaining her title, keeping the TNA Knockouts Championship on the NXT brand. Brookside went on to blame Lee for her failed attempt at capturing the TNA Knockouts Championship the first time.

Two former friends fought for the top prize in the TNA Knockouts division on the grandest stage. Fans were not disappointed as the two knockouts truly left it all out in the ring in this one. In the end, Brookside uses an exposed turnbuckle before driving her down to the mat with the Darkside to win the match. Not only did this get her the match win, but she captured the TNA Knockouts Championship. Marking the first time in her career she has held the belt. I’m ecstatic to see her get to hold the title and have a fun run. She’s one of my favorite young women’s wrestlers around today. She deserves a fun run with that title.

1. Nic Nemeth Captures The TNA World Championship

The main event of the show saw Mike Santana put his TNA World Championship on the line against Nic Nemeth. As stated above, this match marked Nemeth’s “Call Your Shot” championship opportunity. This was a contract he won in October of 2025, alongside Frankie Kazarian, becoming a co-winner. The two men simultaneously won the “Call Your Shot” gauntlet match at Bound For Glory. While Nemeth has teased cashing it in, he has yet to do so. That’s why tonight’s match was so important for him. If Nemeth lost, he wouldn’t have the championship contract to fall back on. So it was truly do or die.

This match was simply fantastic. The two men went on to engage in a 15-minute war. Nemeth truly brought the best out of Santana, and Santana brought the best out of Nemeth. The chemistry these two had was out of this world. However, sadly, there could only be one winner. The ending saw Nemeth evade another Spin The Block from the champion and land a superkick on him. Santana kicked out at one and hit a kick of his own. Santana once again tried for a Spin The Block on Nemeth, but failed to hit it. Nemeth landed a Danger Zone on Santana and pinned him to win the match. This marked Nemeth’s second TNA World Championship reign since joining the company.

Nemeth is such an amazing talent. I spoke above about how Uhaa Nation may have been one of the most underrated stars of WWE, but perhaps the only one more underrated than him was Nemeth, fka Dolph Ziggler. Now, Nemeth gets to finally be a top guy at the promotion that is notorious for giving people second chances to get it right. Now, let’s get to the other part. While this may have been the best moment and match of the night, the ending wasn’t extremely surprising. Mike Santana is headed to NXT and might be main roster-bound by the end of 2026. If this was Santana’s swan song, thank you, Santana. You embodied everything TNA Wrestling should be. Here’s to a long, lengthy, and amazing run in NXT if, and when, that time comes.
