On Sunday, July 13th, WWE capped off its weekend in Atlanta, GA, with its big event, “Evolution.” The event was headlined by Iyo Sky defending the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley. This was the first time we saw Evolution since its inception back in 2018. Evolution has become WWE’s all-women show, and a ground-breaking event for women’s wrestling as a whole. Who better to main event the second-ever Evolution event than Sky and Ripley?

We also saw Tiffany Stratton put her WWE Women’s Championship on the line against the legend, Trish Stratus. NXT took part on the main card too, as Jacy Jayne defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Jordynne Grace. We also saw Jade Cargill vs. Naomi, a four-way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships, and so much more. So, what were the top three moments of this incredibly stacked show?

3. Blake Monroe Turns Heel on Jordynne Grace

In the second match of the show, Jacy Jayne put her NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Jordynne Grace. As always, Jayne was accompanied by her Fatal Influence counterparts, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx. However, Grace found some back-up in her new friend, Blake Monroe. Grace and Monroe picked up a big win over Jayne and Henley at NXT Great American Bash yesterday. So, just as it seems their connection is as powerful as ever, Monroe seems to have something different in mind.

The match between Jayne and Grace was a lot of fun. Both women deserve their flowers for this one. It was awesome to see NXT represented heavily on this all-women’s premium live event. The climax of the match saw Monroe take out Nyx and seemingly grab the title from her to stop her from helping Jayne. However, what we didn’t see coming was what happened next. As Grace was running the ropes, Monroe whacked her in the back with the NXT Women’s Championship belt. At first, fans thought this was an accident or a miscommunication, but the face on Monroe told the whole story.

There was no more smile on Monroe’s face. She was serious. After the match, she presented Jayne with the NXT Women’s Championship in a “friendly” exchange between the two women. Monroe certainly won’t be joining Jayne anytime soon, but she made it clear that she is only out to help herself in NXT. This was a fantastic turn that many people didn’t see coming. A future singles match between Monroe and Grace could be just what Monroe needs to reach the next level in NXT, before Grace ultimately goes to the main roster.

2. Stephanie Vaquer Punches Her Ticket To Clash In Paris

The show also saw a battle royal match with a lot at stake between 20 women. The winner of this match would punch their ticket to the WWE’s August 31st event in Paris, “Clash In Paris,” and earn a World Championship match of their choosing. The match saw the likes of Nikki Bella, Stephanie Vaquer, Lash Legend, Nia Jax, Chelsea Green, Lola Vice, Zelina Vega, Giulia, Kelani Jordan, Jaida Parker, Natalya, and Izzi Dame compete. With the field as stacked as ever before, it would truly take a lot for any woman to win this one.

Ultimately, the match came down to Nia Jax from SmackDown, Lash Legend from NXT, and Stephanie Vaquer from RAW. Vaquer and Legend would work together to get rid of the much more powerful foe. This led to the final two being Vaquer and Legend. In the end, Vaquer hit her patented “Devil’s Kiss” on Legend on the ring apron and knocked her off to win the match. Now, Vaquer will be in a title match in what is sure to be a big international show for the WWE, “Clash In Paris.”

Following the win, Vaquer cut a promo speaking from the heart. She told the fans that her first language she ever learned was “wrestling.” Vaquer has quickly become a fan-favorite in the WWE and more than deserves this win. Hopefully, this will turn into a championship reign for Vaquer, who’s already showing she has what it takes to sit alone atop the mountain in just about any women’s division. Nonetheless, Stephanie Vaquer is officially heading to Paris, France, for a massive showdown.

1. Naomi Cashes In The Ms. Money In The Bank Briefcase, Wins Women’s World Championship

The main event of the show saw Iyo Sky put the Women’s World Championship on the line against Rhea Ripley. Ripley has never defeated Sky in singles competition in their previous encounters. This match certainly delivered and was easily the best match of the night. The end of the match saw Sky hit a Spanish Fly on Ripley from the top rope, and neither woman was able to make it back to their feet. The music of Naomi hit, and she ran to the ring with a referee in hand. She quickly disposed of Ripley, sending her shoulder first into the ring post.

In the end, Naomi captured the Women’s World Championship from Sky after she hit her split-legged moonsault onto the champion. This was a moment that nobody saw coming, as everyone assumed that Naomi would target Tiffany Stratton and remain on SmackDown. Naomi also fell to Jade Cargill earlier in the night in a hellacious No Holds Barred match. This was a fantastic surprise, and Naomi more than deserves the World Championship win.

Now, what happens from here? Do Jade and Bianca end up following Naomi to RAW, or does Naomi take the Women’s World Championship to SmackDown in some sort of trade between the two brands? Regardless of what happens going forward, this was a fun and unexpected cash-in. With Summerslam right around the corner, there are a lot of different avenues they could take with this one. This was a fantastic way to cap off an amazing event. Hopefully, we will see Evolution 3 before another seven years from now.
