On Sunday, May 31st, WWE returned to Italy for its big event, and the first PLE in Italy’s history, “Clash In Italy.” The show was headlined by Roman Reigns putting his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Jacob Fatu. However, this wasn’t just a regular match. Reigns and Fatu met in Tribal Combat with an interesting caveat on the line. If Reigns wins, Fatu has to fall in line and join the Bloodline. If Fatu wins, he’d capture his first-ever major singles title since joining the WWE. A lot was at stake here, and fans were not disappointed. The action in this one was truly top-notch.

However, the action didn’t stop there. We also saw Cody Rhodes put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against the “Ring General,” Gunther, and Rhea Ripley put her WWE Women’s Championship on the line against the former champion, Jade Cargill. The two met in a WrestleMania rematch. We also saw Brock Lesnar attempt to even the score with Oba Femi, and Sol Ruca challenge Becky Lynch for Becky’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship. So, what were the top three moments of this historic night?

3. Brock Lesnar Evens The Score

Taking place smack in the middle of the show, we saw one of the biggest rematches in recent memory as Brock Lesnar squared off with Oba Femi. The last time we saw these two meet in a WWE ring was at WrestleMania 42, where Lesnar seemingly retired. However, Lesnar made his return recently and looked to get back at the man who embarrassed him at Mania. Oba Femi is certainly WWE’s next megastar, but Lesnar was out to prove that he is very much still around. This time, Lesnar was a bit more ready for the Ruler, as he quickly attacked Femi before the match even started.

This match was much like a lot of Lesnar’s matches in the WWE. Not bad, not a 30-minute war, but pretty fun regardless. The match went on for just over six minutes. In that time, Lesnar took the fight to Femi, who took the fight right back. However, in the end, Lesnar landed his seventh and final F-5 of the contest to defeat Femi. Even in defeat, Femi still looked like a star and the future of WWE. This gave Femi his first-ever loss on the main roster. The good part about this whole thing was that it made sense for the story they are trying to tell between these two behemoths.

Now, the score is settled at one win apiece. Femi defeated Lesnar back at WrestleMania, whereas Lesnar got his lick back on Femi at the Clash In Italy event. This can only mean one thing. With Femi taking part in the King of the Ring tournament, he may take a small break from Lesnar. With that said, with SummerSlam right around the corner, don’t be surprised to see the third and final match of Femi and Lesnar take place in what is sure to be Lesnar’s real final match in front of his hometown crowd. It should be interesting to see how they build to their third and final meeting, but one thing we know for sure, it won’t be disappointing. These two are going to have a war at SummerSlam. Book it, HHH.

2. Sol Ruca Captures Her First Taste Of Main Roster Gold

In the final match before the massive main event, Becky Lynch put her Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line against the young upstart of Sol Ruca. These two previously met at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV, a mere week before this match-up took place. Lynch weaseled her way out of that one, giving Ruca the disqualification win. Lynch then attacked Ruca afterwards and stood tall to end that match. However, what Lynch didn’t see coming is what Nick Aldis would tell her: she would have to defend that title a week later at Clash In Italy against the same women with whom she barely made it out, Ruca.

This time, Ruca was ready. Lynch still used her underhanded tactics against Ruca, even going as far as to shove the referee into the ropes, causing Ruca to crash and burn from the top rope. These two had a very fun, nearly 15-minute match. This was a star-making performance for the young upstart, and one that she will be able to look back on and realize this is where it all started. Despite trying to do anything to retain her title, Lynch ate a Sol Snatcher from Ruca to lose the match. The Women’s Intercontinental Championship officially marks Ruca’s first taste of WWE gold on the main roster.

It remains to be seen where both women go from here. Becky Lynch will certainly be around both the midcard and main event scenes. However, Sol Ruca could have a monumental run with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. If history is any indication, from her time in NXT, Ruca certainly can hold onto championships for a nice amount of time. We saw her hold the Women’s North American Championship and the Women’s Speed Championship simultaneously for quite some time. Despite never capturing the top prize in the NXT women’s division, Ruca, without a doubt, has a bright future on the main roster.

1. Jacob Fatu Falls In Line, Reigns Retains, MFT’s Arrive

The main event of the show saw Roman Reigns put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Jacob Fatu. There was a lot on the line for both men in this match. For Roman Reigns, he had his World Heavyweight Championship on the line, which he just won at WrestleMania 42 in an instant-classic of a main event with CM Punk. For Jacob Fatu, he had his pride on the line. Should Fatu lose to Reigns, Fatu would be forced to fall in line and join the Bloodline and be a good “soldier” for Reigns. This was yet another classic main event from Reigns for the top prize in the Raw men’s division.

At Backlash, earlier in May, Reigns retained his World Heavyweight Championship from his cousin, Fatu. However, after the match, we knew things were a long way from over. Fatu attacked Reigns with his Tongan Death Grip. He held the title up, showcasing that he’s next in line. Reigns felt some type of way about this and stopped Adam Pearce from following him the next night on RAW. Instead, Reigns said he would handle it, and that’s exactly what he did at Clash In Italy. The two put on a 30-minute war for the top prize on Raw. It was bloody, brutal, violent, and above all else awesome.

In the end, Reigns sent Fatu’s face into an exposed turnbuckle multiple times. He followed this up with two spears on Fatu and put him away with the three-count. Reigns’ title reign is now seemingly just getting underway. Now, with Fatu joining the Bloodline ranks, it only gets tougher. However, something to watch for is the MFT’s showing up and watching Reigns vs. Fatu from the other side of the guard rail. Could we be seeing WWE run back Bloodline vs. OG Bloodline with some tweaks? It’s very possible. One thing we know for sure is that WWE doesn’t miss with these Bloodline stories. Absolute cinema.
