Tonight’s Rousey vs. Carano card feels like a throwback to a different era of MMA, with two of the biggest pioneers in women’s combat sports finally meeting in a fight fans have talked about for more than a decade. Ronda Rousey returns to MMA for the first time since 2016, while Gina Carano steps back into the cage for the first time since 2009. The event streams live tonight from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, with prelims airing free on YouTube and Tudum before the main card begins on Netflix at 9 p.m. ET. Netflix subscribers can watch the card at no additional charge. 

The card itself is stacked with recognizable names that should keep fans entertained from start to finish. The co-main event features Nate Diaz against Mike Perry in what many expect to be an all-action brawl between two fighters known for chaos and toughness. Heavyweight knockout artist Francis Ngannou also makes his MMA return against Philipe Lins, giving the event serious star power outside the main event. The rest of the main card includes Salahdine Parnasse vs. Kenneth Cross and Junior dos Santos vs. Robelis Despaigne. 

What makes this event so interesting is the mix of nostalgia and unpredictability. Rousey and Carano helped bring women’s MMA into the mainstream years before it became a global attraction, and now both are returning for what MVP has promoted as potentially the final fight of their careers. Carano recently revealed she lost nearly 100 pounds to make the fight happen, while Rousey called it her “dream fight” after years of rumors and missed opportunities. Add in Diaz’s cult following and Ngannou’s knockout power, and tonight’s show has the feel of a major crossover combat sports event rather than a normal MMA card.
