On Saturday, October 18th, All Elite Wrestling held its annual “WrestleDream” PPV live from St. Louis, Missouri. With the show now in the rear-view mirror, let’s take a look back at the biggest moments and takeaways from the event!

Jurassic Express were successful in their first PPV match since rejoining

It’s been three years since Jack Perry and Luchasaurus were a tag team on the main card of a PPV. However, you would never know it based on how well these two worked together. It was almost like they never stopped wrestling together!

They did have great dancing partners with The Young Bucks! There was a $500,000 on the line, but more importantly, this is a feud between two teams that The Young Bucks have owned, never losing to Perry and Luchasaurus.

There was a lot of action in this match. Ultimately, Jurassic Express was able to pick up the victory and finally get their first win over Matt & Nick Jackson!

The celebration didn’t last long, as the Don Callis Family attacked Jurassic Express after the match was over. Kenny Omega made the save for Perry and Luchasaurus to chase off the heels.

Mercedes Mone adds another title to her collection

What started as a TBS Women’s Championship Open Challenge issued by Champion Mercedes Mone turned into a Title vs Title Match when Interim ROH Women’s Champion Mina Shirakawa.

The match itself was good, and the ending was well-executed as Mone pulled it out with a backslide, utilizing the ropes for leverage to secure the pinfall. Mone cheating to win gives Shirakawa an out with the loss.

AEW Women’s Champion Kris Stratlander, who successfully defeated Toni Storm to retain her title earlier, comes down to the ring to lay out the obnoxious heel. It appears they are setting up a huge AEW Champion vs Champion feud!

Tension continues between Takeshita & Okada from the Don Callis Family

While this match was for the AEW Tag Team Championships, the growing tension between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita was the main focal point! AEW did a good job of hitting all the points they were supposed to with Okada and Takeshita.

That is no discredit to the AEW Tag Team Champions, Bandido. They are legit champions and were excellent in this match. The closing moments of the match saw Okada delivering his Rainmaker to Takeshita! The strike will undoubtedly lead to increased friction between the two. The champions took advantage of this, using their finisher to secure the win.

All AEW Champions retained their championships

There were five title matches on the card, with all the Champions successfully defending their titles. They included:

1.) TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher defeating Mark Briscoe.

2.) AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander defeating former champion Toni Storm.

3.) TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defeating Interim ROH Women’s Champion Mina Shirakawa.

4.) AEW Tag Team Champions Bandido defeating
Kazuchika Okada & Konosuke Takeshita.

5.) AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page defeating Samoa Joe.

Sting returns to help Darby Allin defeat Jon Moxley

The main event saw Darby Allin taking on Jon Moxley in an I Quit Match! We saw everything you would expect to see in a match like this, including interference from Moxley’s Death Riders group.

Moxley tried everything to get Allin to quit, but Darby wouldn’t give in. The closing of this match was a pleasant surprise, also making sense as to why this match was the last on the card. The arena darkened, and when the lights came back up, Sting was there with his trademark bat!

After Sting laid waste to the Death Riders, he tossed his former tag team partner the bat. Allin used it on Moxley, hit a Scorpion Death Drop, followed by a Coffin Drop. Allin then applied the Scorpion Deathlock on broken glass from a busted aquarium, causing Moxley to quit!
