On Saturday, October 11th, WWE held its annual “Crown Jewel” event from a sold-out RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The show streamed live and is available for replay on ESPN+.

Five matches were on the card, each with huge implications. Let’s take a look back at each match on this memorable card!

Bronson Reed defeats Roman Reigns in street fight.

When Roman Reigns defeated Bronson Reed at Clash In Paris, you couldn’t help but feel the feud was far from over! These two had unfinished business, and after this match at Crown Jewel, we may not have seen the last of them yet.

The fact that this match was an Aussie Street Fight paved the way for Reed to get his win back against Reigns. However, how it happened in the closing moments of the match is really the key story!

Reigns and Reed put on a hard-hitting match as expected. Also, as expected, Bron Breakker came down to assist Reed. Reigns was also not alone, as the Usos came down and had Roman Reigns’ back.

The match ended when Jey Uso accidentally speared Reigns through a table. This ultimately set up Bronson Reed to set up his splash for a pinfall. Even more critical, Reigns was visibly upset at his cousins, even yelling at the Usos for getting involved. I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out!

Stephanie Vaquer defeats Tiffany Stratton to win the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship!

In the first Champion vs Champion match of the night, Stephanie Vaquer outlasted Tiffany Stratton in what was the shortest match of the night. The match didn’t have to be as long as the others on the card. Both female talents brought the action during this fast-paced match!

There was a brief moment of concern when Stratton took a rough bump from the top rope onto Vaquer’s knees. In a spot where Stratton performed a Swanton from the top rope, Vaquer got her knees up. Stratton appeared to have overshot the landing a bit and landed on her neck and upper back, instead of the center of her back.

Luckily, Stratton was okay and able to continue the match fine. While both of these champions are crowd favorites, WWE appeared to make the right call with having Vaquer win here. She’s on a big wave of momentum, and it’s a great way to have her continue it!

John Cena defeats AJ Styles in a classic!

These two are among the best to have ever done it! Every one of their previous matches has been a show stealer. So there should be no surprise that this one was no different! The crowd was invested in the match and electric from start to finish. Both Cena and Styles did a great job building this match-up from start to finish.

As Cena has done in matches during his retirement tour this year, he paid homage to many greats he faced in his career, including attempting the Walls of Jericho submission. He also completed an RKO, Sister Abigail, and finished the match with a Tombstone Piledriver, followed by his AA finisher. Styles also paid homage to HBK by hitting Cena with Sweet Chin Music, as well as Cena’s own AA on him.

The chemistry between Cena and Styles is undeniable! The matches and memories they have given us through the years are the reason why we, as fans, love wrestling!

There were so many great moments in this match, but the biggest might have come after when the two superstars embraced! The moment was bittersweet, as it showcased the respect these two have for each other; however, it also marked the culmination of a feud that was one of the best in each of their careers.

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky defeated The Kabuki Warriors.

It’s hard to follow a match like John Cena vs AJ Styles, but these four talents did an excellent job in doing that! Rhea Ripley got a huge reaction and love from her hometown crowd. They picked a perfect partner for Rhea as Iyo Sky is a fan favorite as well.

WWE did an excellent job of telling a story leading into this match. This was very well done, given the history of everyone involved. And while it is unclear whether Ripley and Sky will remain a tag team or if this is just a one-off, one thing is clear: the possible growing frustration between Asuka and Sane of the Kabuki Warriors.

Seth Rollins defeats Cody Rhodes to win the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship!

Seeing these two together in the ring really solidifies why they are both champions in the WWE! Rollins and Rhodes put on a fantastic main event to close out this show.

There were many high spots and significant moments in the match. The closing moments saw Rollins ironically use the Rolex watch that Cody Rhodes had gifted to him to knock out Cody. Two Curb Stomps followed that to earn him the victory over Rhodes.

Having Rollins win by cheating was the right call and made the most sense. It gave Rhodes a way out to lose. It also let Rollins finally clear that hurdle and defeat Rhodes for the first time in his career!
