On Saturday, September 20th, World Wrestling Entertainment kicked off its first PLE on ESPN, “Wrestlepalooza,” from Indianapolis, Indiana. Now that the massive event has concluded, we look back on the most significant moments from the show.

The Beast Conquers John Cena Again

The scene looked all too familiar to their Summerslam showdown years ago. Brock Lesnar dominated John Cena for most of this match. Cena made a short-lived comeback before ultimately being pinned by Lesnar after repeated F5s.

WWE did a great job focusing on the kids in the crowd, who were visibly upset and crying. An angle the company was clearly going for. Also, throwing in Paul Heyman to announce Lesnar once again was a nice touch.

Hopefully, WWE is not done with this program and will play it back, this time with Cena overcoming the adversity and winning. Otherwise, what would have been the point of this?

AJ Lee Makes Her Long Awaited Return

Since CM Punk returned to the WWE, one big topic of conversation has been whether AJ Lee would return and when. WWE answered those questions on the September 5th edition of WWE SmackDown.

After Becky Lynch cost Punk the title and then verbally and physically abused Punk, AJ had seen enough. She beat up Lynch, setting the stage for the mixed tag match at Wrestlepalooza.

AJ looked good in her return and has clearly been in shape and working during her time away. The match was good, and the outcome, while predictable, was a feel-good moment, welcoming back AJ with a victory!

Stephanie Vaquer Wins WWE Women’s World Championship

Last month, WWE Women’s Champion Naomi announced her pregnancy during a heartfelt moment on WWE Monday Night Raw. Since then, the question has been, who will take her place as a champion?

There were a few talents whose names came into the conversation; however, one appeared to stand out more than the others. That name was Stephanie Vaquer. She’s become a fan favorite and has adapted well to WWE’s style.

Fans were excited to see the match between Vaquer and Iyo Sky, as Sky is also well-liked by fans. The match itself was fantastic, and the outcome was the one the fans had been waiting to see!

Other Moments Coming Out Of The Show:

Jey Uso appeared to suffer a legitimate injury in a chair spot during the Usos’ match against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

The Undertaker returned to announce Stephanie McMahon as the first member inducted into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame!

Cody Rhodes successfully defended his WWE Undisputed Championship against Drew McIntyre in a hard-hitting match.
