On Sunday, April 27th, TNA Wrestling returned to the Galen Center live in Los Angeles, CA, for its big show, Rebellion. The show was headlined by Joe Hendry putting the TNA World Championship on the line against the “King of TNA” Frankie Kazarian and NXT’s Ethan Page. This match came a week after Hendry showed up to WrestleMania 41 to answer “The Viper” Randy Orton’s open challenge. However, this was only the tip of the iceberg for all the action we saw on Sunday night.

We also saw Moose put the TNA X-Division Championship on the line in an Ultimate X match against Leon Slater, Matt Cardona, El Hijo del Vikingo, KC Navarro, & Sidney Akeem, as well as Ash & Heather By Elegance putting their TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championships on the line against Spitfire, and NXT’s Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson and Gigi Dolin & Tatum Paxley. The System’s Moose, Eddie Edwards, and Brian Myers did battle with Ace Austin and The Rascalz, while Masha Slamovich put her TNA Knockout’s Championship on the line against Tessa Blanchard, and so much more. So, what were the top three moments of the night?

Honorable Mention: Indi Hartwell Crosses The Line

In one of the biggest moments of the night, TNA unveiled its newest signee to the TNA Knockouts division. Gia Miller was able to catch up with Hartwell as she was ringside for the TNA Knockouts Championship match. Hartwell joins her former tag team partner, Steph De Lander, on the TNA Wrestling brand. Hartwell brings a lot of excitement behind her arrival. She’s one of the top women’s free agents in professional wrestling today. Similar to Nic Nemeth, Ash By Elegance, and many others, Hartwell hopes to revitalize her career in TNA. Spoiler alert: Strap in because this is about to be gold.

3. Leon Slater Defies Gravity in the Ultimate X match

In one of the big marquee matches of the night, we saw Moose put the TNA X-Division Championship on the line in the return of the Ultimate X. He went up against five tough competitors in Matt Cardona, El Hijo del Vikingo, KC Navarro, Sidney Akeem, and Leon Slater. Slater has been making a name for himself inside of a TNA ring for quite some time now. He’s wowed fans across the globe showing he’s not afraid to take chances. He did that more than ever in one of the biggest spots of the night in Ultimate X.

Leon Slater made his way up to the platforms above the ring, which held the cables in place to get ready to do something spectacular. Slater jumped off the cable, hitting a Swanton 450 onto Moose, Cardona, Vikingo, Navarro, Akeem, and even AJ Francis, who got involved on Navarro’s behalf. Unfortunately for Slater, he crashed, burned, and got injured. However, Slater continued to prove to everyone that he’s one of the top high-flyers in professional wrestling and is willing to give his body to entertain the fans.

Ultimately, when Slater unhooks the title, Moose spears him before he’s able to hit the mat successfully with the title. This causes Moose to grab the title to successfully retain it. Overall, this was a fantastic match that saw everyone in the match excel. Barring the one unfortunate spot with Slater, this match itself was great. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like Slater was seriously injured, as he was still able to finish the match strong. Slater is hopefully in line for an X-Division Championship run sooner than later.

2. Nic & Ryan Nemeth Capture the TNA World Tag Team Championships

In the final match before the main event, Matt and Jeff Hardy put their TNA World Tag Team Championships on the line against Nic & Ryan Nemeth. This has turned into a brutal feud to see who the best brothers in all of TNA wrestling truly are. This was the second match in TNA Rebellion’s triple main event which featured Slamovich defending the Knockout’s Championship against Blanchard, and Hendry defending the TNA World Championship against Kazarian and NXT’s Page.

Despite the Hardys being the rightful champions, the Nemeths had the TNA World Tag Team Championships. The Nemeths stole the titles from The Hardy Compound on this past Thursday as a way to play some mind games with the rightful champions. Ultimately, after a fun tag team match, Nic Nemeth goes low on Jeff Hardy behind the referee’s back. He follows this up with a Danger Zone to put Hardy away and win the TNA World Tag Team Championships for him and his brother.

It remains to be seen where these two teams go from here. There has been some chatter in the past about The Hardys potentially finishing up their careers in WWE with one final run. Could we see The Hardys returning to the WWE full-time sooner rather than later? As for the Nemeths, despite stealing the titles, now they can rightfully call themselves the TNA World Tag Team Championships, even if they used some underhanded tactics to get there.

1. Trick Williams Attacks After Joe Hendry Retains The TNA World Championship

The main event of TNA Rebellion saw Joe Hendry put the TNA World Championship on the line in a triple-threat match against the “King of TNA,” Frankie Kazarian, and NXT’s Ethan Page. This match marked the third and final main event of TNA Rebellion’s triple main event. Hendry knew odds weren’t in his favor to retain the TNA World Championship, however, he was going to do what he had to do to retain the championship.

Page landed a cutter onto the TNA World Championship belt and looks to have the match almost won. However, Hendry was able to kick out, proving Page’s cutter not to be enough to end Hendry’s magical reign. Hendry hits a fallaway slam on Page, following that up with the Standing Ovation to put Page away. Hendry successfully retains the TNA World Championship, but the action didn’t stop there as someone from NXT wanted to make their presence felt one more time.

After the match, NXT’s Trick Williams showed up and hit the Trick Shot on Hendry to knock him out. Rebellion ended with Williams standing tall over TNA’s World Champion. This came just days after Hendry showed up and punked out Williams on NXT last Tuesday. Will this lead to a Williams vs. Hendry match down the line? It was also teased on NXT that Oba may be involved, so could this be on NXT’s side or TNA’s? One thing we know for sure is that this is a very exciting time to be a TNA Wrestling fan.
