On Saturday, April 19th, WWE kicked off their biggest show of the year with “WrestleMania Saturday.” The event was headlined by a triple threat match, which saw three of the top stars in the industry go at it: Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk. However, that’s only what capped off a very fun night filled with a lot of action. We also saw a ton of great wrestling and even greater moments, including Gunther putting his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against “Main Event” Jey Uso to start the show.

Some other matches that took place on WrestleMania Saturday were The New Day looked to capture the World Tag Team Championships from the War Raiders, Tiffany Stratton put her WWE Women’s Championship on the line against Charlotte Flair, LA Knight put the United States Championship on the line against Jacob Fatu, and so much more. With all of the action-packed matches we saw, what were the top three moments of WrestleMania Saturday?

3. Jacob Fatu Gets His First Taste of WWE Gold

Midway through the show, Jacob Fatu looked to capture his first taste of WWE gold as he faced LA Knight for the United States Championship. Knight, who did a great job at taking out Tama Tonga on Friday Night SmackDown, left Solo Sikoa in the fray, and Sikoa accompanied Fatu out to the entranceway. However, Fatu went at it alone and was able to accomplish something very few people can say they do, winning gold in their first-ever WrestleMania match.

Fatu debuted just under a year ago, shortly after WrestleMania 40, as a part of the new Bloodline that Sikoa was putting together. Fast forward to tonight’s match, Fatu got an opportunity to put himself further on the map and cement his name in WrestleMania history. The Samoan Werewolf was able to do just that as Fatu put Knight away with two moonsaults to win the United States Championship and get his first taste of gold in the WWE.

Fatu will now enter Friday nights as a champion of the blue brand. He has quickly wowed the WWE Universe with what a man his size can do in the ring, and he has shown everyone that his future is very bright. It should be interesting to see if this championship win for Fatu is a catalyst to start the upcoming rivalry between Sikoa and Fatu. As for LA Knight, he could potentially be drafted to Monday Night Raw and see a nice change of scenery.

2. Jey Uso Captures the World Heavyweight Championship

In the opening match of the WrestleMania 40 event, we saw Gunther put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Jey Uso in a rivalry that has become so personal. On the road to WrestleMania, these two men threw everything they had at each other, including Gunther bloodying and decimating Jimmy Uso in front of Jey, who was zip-tied to the ropes. This is certainly an image that Jey kept in his mind against the champion throughout this evening as motivation to beat the man he’s never been able to beat.

The match itself was everything we hoped it would be and more. Uso took the fight to Gunther, as well as took some of the best shots that the World Heavyweight Champion had to offer. Gunther continued to show why he is truly one of the best in the ring in the entire industry. Ultimately, after three splashes from the top rope, Uso locked in a chokehold on Gunther and forced him to tap out. With this submission, Uso finally captured the World Heavyweight Championship. After the match, Jimmy made his return to celebrate with his brother in the middle of the ring.

Emotion overflowed from the two brothers as they embraced, and the fans YEET throughout the stadium. It remains to be seen where Gunther goes from here. There is a good possibility that he wants to get a rematch with Jey for the championship that he held since SummerSlam of 2024. However, with the WWE Draft right around the corner, maybe Gunther going to SmackDown could open up some new opportunities for the “Ring General.” One thing we know for sure is Monday Night Raw has a new top champion and his name is Jey Uso… YEET.

1. Paul Heyman Aligns With Seth Rollins Who Defeats Roman Reigns and CM Punk

The main event of WrestleMania Saturday saw three of the absolute best professional wrestlers in the industry go at it: Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk. The hatred these three men have for one another is very, very clear. An added extra layer to this match was the presence of Reigns’ wiseman, Paul Heyman. Punk cashed in his favor that Heyman owed him for helping out the OG Bloodline at WarGames in November, and Heyman was forced to be in Punk’s corner for the duration of this match. This also marked Punk’s first WrestleMania main event.

From the entrances onwards, this match felt like a big deal. Rollins made his way in using a flamethrower, while Punk had the band that sings his theme song, “Cult of Personality,” sing him out to the ring, and Reigns entered the ring like only he knows how. All in all, it felt like a WrestleMania main event. The match itself had it all, action, character development and even some heartbreak at the end. The end of the match saw Paul Heyman low-blow both CM Punk and Roman Reigns one right after the other. Heyman then handed a chair to Rollins and looked on as Rollins used it on Reigns.

Rollins followed the chair shot up with a stomp on Reigns and pinned him to win the match. Heyman aligning himself with Rollins creates a fun layer to this ever-evolving story that many didn’t think would ever come. For the longest time this season, it seemed like Reigns or Punk, however, there’s always been a third choice, and Heyman chose that third choice. This was cinema at its finest. A partnership between Heyman and Rollins is something I never thought I needed until now. However, it’s a very welcomed new story to be told in the WWE.
