On Thursday, April 17th, TNA Wrestling held their big event, “Unbreakable.” The show was headlined by the crowning of the first-ever TNA International Champion in a match that saw Maclin battle AJ Francis and Eric Young in a three-way match. We also saw a ton of other action, surprises, and above all else a great night of wrestling.

We saw The Hardys, Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy, team up with Mike Santana to face Nic Nemeth, Ryan Nemeth, and Mustafa Ali in a big six-man tag team match, as well as the return of the bloody and brutal Barbed Wire Massacre match that saw Sami Callihan and Mance Warner go to war. So, what were the top three moments of the night?

3. Barbed Wire Massacre Returns

In what has become a blood rivalry between the two men, we saw Sami Callihan and Mance Warner go to war in a barbed wire massacre match. There’s a reason that this match is not around a ton, and it’s easy to see why. It’s violent as all hell. However, if there were going to be two men who were going to resurrect this very bloody, brutal, and violent match, Callihan and Warner were the two top choices to do so.

In the middle of the show, the ropes got covered in some sharp barbed wire, and our two combatants went to war. Little time was wasted as Callihan drove Warner through a door covered in barbed wire with a Death Valley Driver. Callihan would go on to continue the assault on Warner with a barbed wire baseball bat, and this was just the beginning. Both men used anything they could find on each other, including lemon juice, salt, a stapler, a screwdriver, and of course, barbed wire.

Ultimately, Callihan uses a barbed wire-covered Mr. Socko on Warner, and follows this up with a Cactus Driver 97 to win the war. This match was set in hopes of settling the rivalry between the two men. However, it remains to be seen if that was accomplished or if Warner is still out for blood since he lost this coveted Barbed Wire Massacre.

2. Chris Bey Returns to TNA for the First Time Since October

In one of the most emotional and best moments of the night, Ace Austin made his way out to the ring sporting a Chris Bey shirt. He brought out Bey, which marked Bey’s first time being back in front of the TNA fans since the dreadful night in October. He was truly given a heroes welcome before hugging his long-time partner and acknowledging the fans in attendance and watching at home.

Bey delivered a touching message on the microphone to everyone watching. “You almost had me,” Bey says. “You almost broke my spirit and my dreams. You definitely broke my neck, but I looked in the mirror and had to remind myself that I, Chris Bey, am unbreakable. We are unbreakable. TNA is unbreakable. All of this is the greatest story ever told. Thank you.”

There’s no timetable or anything on when Bey could come back to the ring, so we’re not even going to speculate. However, what we know for sure is Bey’s spirits are good, and that’s so important for everyone to see. Bey is a true inspiration inside the ring and out, and whatever is next in his story, we’re going to support him through it all. This was truly one of the best moments of the night.

1. Steve Maclin Becomes The First-Ever TNA International Champion

In the opening match of the show, we saw Steve Maclin do battle with Ace Austin and Eddie Edwards in an opportunity to punch his ticket into the main event against AJ Francis and Eric Young with hopes of becoming the first-ever TNA International Champion. Maclin picked up a big win against two of TNA’s best wrestlers in Austin and Edwards to do just that.

His road didn’t get any easier, though, as Maclin was going to need to get through another two tough opponents in Young and Francis to reach history. It looked as if Francis was in the driver’s seat, as he was the only real fresh competitor out there. Young had to qualify in the first match of the night to make it into the main event, and Maclin had to qualify in the second. Francis, however, qualified a couple of weeks back.

Ultimately, after a hard-fought match, Maclin counters the Down Payment from Francis and lands a KIA to become the first-ever TNA International Champion. After the match, Santino Marella, the Director of Authority, presents Maclin with the beautiful, brand-new title. Maclin is more than deserving of calling himself the first-ever TNA International Champion. This was a moment more than earned, and the TNA International Champion and it’s future is bright in the hands of one of the hardest workers in all of TNA, Steve Maclin.
