AEW heads to Paris for Grand Slam France, and the promotion has put together a card that feels worthy of the company’s first-ever event in France. The biggest attraction is undoubtedly Will Ospreay defending the AEW World Championship against Kazuchika Okada. These two have plenty of history from their days in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, with Okada holding a significant advantage in their previous singles meetings. Ospreay is coming off his successful title defense against Jon Moxley at All Out, but Okada represents a completely different challenge. With the AEW World Championship on the line, this could easily steal the show in Paris.

The rest of the championship picture is busy as well. Mercedes Moné puts the AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Queen Aminata, while Darby Allin defends the TNT Championship against Kyle Fletcher. Bandido will also put the ROH World Championship up for grabs against Kofi. There is plenty of potential for those matches to have an impact beyond Paris, especially with AEW WrestleDream coming up on October 17. Fletcher, in particular, has a major opportunity against Allin, while the outcome of Moné’s title defense will determine whether her planned WrestleDream showdown with Thekla remains intact.

There is plenty happening outside of the title matches, too. Samoa Joe takes on Jack Perry in a qualifying match for the unique Clockwork Carnage match scheduled for WrestleDream, while Jon Moxley and Gabe Kidd team up against Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. The Paris crowd should give AEW a different atmosphere, especially with this being the company’s first event in France. With multiple championships on the line, WrestleDream implications throughout the card and Ospreay and Okada closing the show, Grand Slam France has the ingredients for a memorable night for AEW.
