On Saturday, May 24th, WWE returned to Tampa, FL, to kick off an action-packed weekend. It all kicked off on Saturday night with the quarterly WWE event, “Saturday Night’s Main Event.” The show was headlined by a big match that saw Jey Uso put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Logan Paul. Both Uso and Paul picked up a win at WrestleMania 41, so something was going to have to give.

We also saw Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker team up to face off with CM Punk and Sami Zayn, Zelina Vega put her Women’s United States Championship on the line against the former champion, Chelsea Green, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest go to war inside of a steel cage, and John Cena face R-Truth in a non-title match. So, what were the top three moments of the very fun, action-filled night?

3.Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena vs. … “Ron Cena?”

In one of the show’s marquee matches, we saw the Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena, go one-on-one with R-Truth in a non-title match. For Truth, this was going to be a match where he tried to beat the “Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect” back into Cena. However, what fans didn’t expect was to see R-Truth not show up. Instead, following Cena’s entrance, we saw the entrance of “Ron Cena.” Truth came out to the ring decked in Cena gear, imitating the old babyface Cena.

The match itself, while it was short, was a ton of fun. Truth took the fight to Cena and even unloaded on Cena with all of Cena’s moves. We saw Truth hit everything that Cena has hit on opponents in the past to try and put him away. Unfortunately for Truth, while the fans loved it and ate it up, it didn’t get the job done. At the end of the match, Cena went to use the belt, but seemed to have had second thoughts and gave the referee the championship. However, as the referee had his back turned, Cena low-blowed Truth and hit the AA to win the match.

After the match, Cena clocked Truth over the head with the Undisputed WWE Championship. This is a move that’s become synonymous with this new heel Cena. While another face turn was once again teased, Cena remained his new heel self in the victory he picked up over Truth. It remains to be seen what happens next, but one thing we know is that Cena’s retirement tour is going to be a wild ride. It was a ton of fun getting to see Truth in a main event-level singles match.

2. Bronson Reed Joins Seth Rollins New Group

In the opening match, we saw Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker face off with CM Punk and Sami Zayn. Punk was out for payback after Paul Heyman turned on him in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 41. On the Raw after WrestleMania 41, Breakker aligned with Rollins to start the formation of what is becoming WWE’s most dominant faction around today, and at Saturday Night’s Main Event, we saw yet another superstar join the group.

When Zayn was attempting a helluva kick on Breakker, Heyman grabbed his leg to distract him. With the referee focused on Heyman, Bronson Reed made his return on the opposite side of the ring and hit Punk with a splash through the guardrail. This allowed Breakker to get the chance to regroup. Breakker landed a powerful spear on Zayn and pinned him to win the match for his respective team. However, the bigger story came after the match.

Following their win, Rollins and Reed faced off, teasing the history they once had together. This was a face-off that ended in a warm embrace from Rollins onto Reed. Breakker and Reed shook hands and the three men, accompanied by Heyman, stood tall in the ring to end the segment. Reed is officially back for the first time since he suffered a brutal ankle injury at War Games last November. Adding him to the new group with Rollins and Breakker was the right call. This new group is quickly becoming one of the WWE’s most dominant factions today. With all the star power already in it, this group has the makings to be one of WWE’s most dominant factions in history.

1. The American Nightmare Returns

The main event of the show saw Jey Uso put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Logan Paul. Paul called his shot following his victory over AJ Styles at WrestleMania 41. Uso, being the fighting champion that he is, accepted the challenge and the two faced off. The match itself was fantastic, but it’s what happened at the end that got the entire professional wrestling world talking. In an altercation that happened earlier in the night, Cena sent Uso a warning, trying to put more pressure on the World Heavyweight Champions shoulders.

As Uso hit the splash at the end of the match, he seemingly had it won. However, Cena made his presence felt, pulling the referee out of the ring and beating the hell out of Uso. This drew out a returning Cody Rhodes. Rhodes hasn’t been seen in over a month since he dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41. At the end of the show tonight, he made his return, thwarting Cena and helping Uso retain his World Heavyweight Championship. However, we got our first official Money In The Bank match.

Rhodes grabbed the microphone and said it looked like Cena found his partner in Logan Paul, and Cody has his partner in Jey, so a tag team match was made official for the June 7th event. Cody seemingly has eyes firmly set on a rematch with Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Now the only question that remains is not if, but when that match will happen? Summerslam? Seems like a safe bet.
