On Sunday, April 20th, WWE held the epic conclusion to its two-night extravaganza, WrestleMania 40, with its big event, “WrestleMania Sunday.” The show was headlined by Cody Rhodes putting the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against one of the greatest of all time, John Cena. However, that’s only what capped off a very fun night filled with a lot of action. We saw a ton of great wrestling and even greater moments, including Iyo Sky putting the Women’s World Championship on the line against Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair to start the night off.

Some other matches that took place on WrestleMania Sunday saw Randy Orton host an open challenge, Bron Breakker put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Penta, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Balor in a four-way match, Damian Priest do battle with Drew McIntyre in a Sin City Street Fight, and so much more. With all of the action packed matches and big moments that we saw, what were the top three moments of WrestleMania Sunday?

Honorable Mention: Dominik Mysterio Wins the Intercontinental Championship

In one of the bigger matches on WrestleMania Sunday, we saw Bron Breakker put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Penta, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Balor. This match was one of the top matches of the weekend, with all four men showing up and showing out. Ultimately, however, Dominik would hit a frog splash on Balor and pin his Judgement Day counterpart to win the Intercontinental Championship. This came moments after Balor seemingly had the match won, hitting a coup de grâce on Breakker in the ring. Mysterio broke up the pinfall with a frog splash onto Balor to steal the win and the title.

The crowd roared when Mysterio won the Intercontinental Championship. It’s interesting to see where things go from here, and more specifically, where The Judgement Day goes from here. Also, is it time to hoist Breakker into the main title scene? One may say so. Overall, this was a fantastic match and a good choice for the winner of the match, since there are a lot of avenues they can go from here.

3. Becky Lynch Returns And Captures Tag Team Gold With Lyra Valkyria

In a late addition to WrestleMania 41, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez put the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on the line against Lyra Valkyria and a partner who was supposed to be Bayley. Valkyria and Bayley earned this chance on SmackDown when they picked up four straight wins against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark, Natalya & Maxxine Dupri, Katana Chance & Kayden Carter, and Michin & B-Fab in a gauntlet match. Unfortunately, after getting jumped by presumably Morgan and Rodriguez, Bayley had to pull out of this match. This left Valkyria to try and find a partner in not much time.

Thankfully for Valkyria, she made a lot of friends in the WWE in her short time on the main roster, and she had the perfect choice to take Bayley’s spot in challenging for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, a returning Becky Lynch. This match marked the WrestleMania debut of the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Valkyria. After a great match, ultimately, Lynch hits the manhandle slam on her long-time rival, Morgan, to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

This was a great choice to have the long-time friends in Valkyria and Lynch be the next to hold the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. It remains to be seen where things may go from here, but this could also be the start of a great story that ends with Valkyria and Lynch fighting over the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. As for Morgan and Rodriguez, the Judgement Day has some questions to answer Monday night on Raw. Especially since Mysterio pinned Balor to win the Intercontinental Championship.

2. Joe Hendry Answers Randy Orton’s Open Challenge

Randy Orton was scheduled to face off with Kevin Owens here tonight in a match that the whole world was looking forward to. Unfortunately, life happens, and Owens suffered an unfortunate neck injury. He was forced to pull out of the show, and could be missing upwards of a year. After weeks of speculation, on Friday Night SmackDown, Orton announced that he was going to be at WrestleMania and told anyone within ear shot of him to meet him in the middle of the ring, and someone certainly took him up on that offer.

Orton made his way down to the ring, ready to go. Now, the only question that remained was who would answer his open challenge? With fans waiting eagerly in anticipation, the doors opened at the top of the entranceway, and Joe Hendry’s music hit. Hendry made his way out to the ring, and the crowd went wild, singing along to his theme song. The match itself was a fun one. While the match may not have lasted long, it accomplished what it set out to do. Orton put Hendry away with an RKO to win the match and shook his hand afterwards.

Getting to see the TNA World Champion inside a WWE ring on the biggest show of the year for WWE was super special. Orton gave Hendry a sign of respect after the match before hitting him with another RKO. Many fans thought this was going to be a spot taken by Rusev, who’s supposed to be returning soon, but this was a much better choice. When companies work together, it makes the wrestling world that much better. Seeing TNA officially at WrestleMania in a big way was such a cool moment.

1. John Cena Breaks The Record, Winning His 17th World Championship

The main event of WrestleMania Sunday and WrestleMania 41 as a whole saw Cody Rhodes put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against the greatest of all time, John Cena. This has quickly become one of the top rivalries in all of WWE, especially after the unthinkable happened and Cena turned heel last month, destroying Rhodes in the process. We knew Travis Scott and The Rock may not be far behind, and that Rhodes would have an uphill battle to face. This was arguably one of the biggest main events in recent WrestleMania history, and it delivered on almost every front, except the end.

The match itself was a lot of fun. We saw these two men throw everything they had at each other, including Cena hitting an Attitude Adjustment off the top rope onto Rhodes. However, it was the ending that fell a little bit flat. Travis Scott made his presence felt, which ended with Rhodes getting a bit of payback on Scott and hitting him with a cross Rhodes of his own. Ultimately, Cena used the Undisputed WWE Championship on Rhodes and pinned him to break the record, which was previously held by Ric Flair, who had 16 World Championship wins.

The ending of the match saw a heel turn teased when Rhodes had the option to knock Cena out with the belt. However, he chose to be a good guy and ultimately made the wrong choice. It should be fun to see how this story plays out and see if Rhodes finally listens to The Rock to win back his title, turning heel in the process. One thing we know for sure is Cena is the Undisputed WWE Champion, and now he can put himself in the history books as the greatest of all time.
