On Saturday, June 7th, WWE returned to the Intuit Dome for its annual event, Money In The Bank. The event was headlined by a massive tag team match, which saw the Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena, team up with Logan Paul to face off with the team of Cody Rhodes and the World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso. Rhodes made his return to in-ring action for the first time since WrestleMania 41, hoping to get some payback on Cena.

We also saw the prestigious Men’s and Women’s Money In The Bank matches take place. One superstar from each division would punch their ticket to a championship opportunity whenever they want, so who was it going to be? We also saw Dominik Mysterio put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against AAA’s Octagon Jr., Becky Lynch challenge Lyra Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and so much more. So, what were the top three moments of the night?

3. Becky Lynch Dethrones Lyra Valkyria To Become The New Women’s Intercontinental Champion

In the third match of the night, we saw Lyra Valkyria put the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line against her former friend turned bitter enemy, Becky Lynch. Lynch looked to make history, adding the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to her already stacked resume. As for Valkyria, she looked to continue keeping her name in the record books as the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Something was going to have to give. Would Becky be able to win the title, or would Valkyria keep her reign alive?

One of the big moments saw Lynch hit a manhandle slam on Valkyria from the middle rope for a two-count. Outside the ring, Valkyria landed a nightwing on Lynch. This was an excellent match. Both women threw everything they had at each other for one of the top prizes in the RAW women’s division, the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Ultimately, Lynch took the underhanded route, rolling up Valkyria and using the tights to pin her. Thus, becoming the second-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

This was a decision that saw many mixed reviews. The Women’s Intercontinental Championship was made to help heighten the RAW women’s midcard division. With Lynch holding the title hostage now, it looks like many midcard talents won’t get that chance. Nonetheless, Lynch is now officially the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion, ending Valkyria’s 145-day reign. Whether people love it or hate it, Lynch is officially holding gold… yet again.

2. Mr. & Mrs. Money In The Bank Are Crowned/Jacob Fatu Hates Solo Sikoa

Kicking off the event, we saw Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Giulia, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, & Stephanie Vaquer do battle in the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match. The match saw a ton of great action and wrestling from the women’s division. This saw some big spots like Vaquer hitting the Devil’s Kiss on Ripley on a ladder, and Ripley getting buried under a bunch of ladders by Perez and Giulia. Ultimately, as Bliss and Ripley fought atop a ladder, Naomi came in and knocked them both off. This led to Naomi unhooking the briefcase and winning the Women’s Money In The Bank match.

Towards the end of the night, it was the Men’s turn to wow the WWE universe in the Men’s Money In The Bank match. Seth Rollins, Andrade, El Grande Americano, LA Knight, Penta, and Solo Sikoa did battle for the prestigious Mr. Money In The Bank briefcase. The match saw everything from Knight hitting an elbow drop on Sikoa on a ladder to even a big turn happening. Jacob Fatu finally turned on Sikoa, gaining payback for Sikoa’s comments on Friday Night SmackDown. “I HATE YOU!” Fatu shouted at Sikoa, stopping him from reaching the briefcase in the process. Ultimately, Rollins, along with some help from his stablemates Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, curb-stomped Knight and climbed the ladder to win the briefcase for the second time in his career.

So, the Money In The Bank briefcase holders are official. Naomi from SmackDown and Seth Rollins from RAW have earned the right to challenge for any championship of their choosing whenever they please. It seems like Rollins will more than likely use the briefcase on his brand’s top champion, Uso. As for Naomi, her winning the briefcase creates interesting scenarios for SummerSlam with her, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair.

1. R-Truth Returns to the WWE

The main event of the show saw the Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena, team up with Logan Paul for the first time. They went up against a team who had quite the history together in the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, and the World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso. This was a tag team match which saw two separate rivalries come to a head, as Rhodes was after payback on Cena, and Uso successfully retained his World Heavyweight Championship over Logan Paul at Saturday Night’s Main Event in May. However, the bigger story came at the very end of the match.

Paul took out Uso with a springboard moonsault through the announce table. This took out both men and drew the referee’s attention away from the action in the ring. Cena capitalized on this, using his Undisputed WWE Championship belt on Rhodes, hoping to win the match using his typical heel moves. However, what Cena didn’t account for was a hooded figure attacking him. The individual under the hood was revealed to be the recently released, now recently re-signed R-Truth.

Truth knocked Cena out with the title belt. This led to Rhodes recovering and hitting the Cross Rhodes on Cena for the three-count. Despite the championship not changing hands, Rhodes got a small measure of revenge on the man who screwed him at WrestleMania 41. However, the big story is the return of Truth. What will this version of Truth bring us? Are the laughs indeed over with Truth? He looked much more serious than we’ve ever seen him in the ring. Another question that remains to be answered is, is this even R-Truth? Rumors have been running rampant that Ron Killings is indeed here now. One thing we know for sure is whatever his name may be, HE IS BACK!
