Kevin Owens shocked the WWE Universe and Wrestling World when he announced this past Friday on WWE Smackdown that he had a serious neck injury and might need surgery. Many didn’t know whether this was part of a storyline or whether Owens was legitimately injured.

Since having to pull out of the highly anticipated Wrestlemania 41 bout with Randy Orton, numerous reports have surfaced from reliable sources, and they all confirmed the unfortunate reality. This injury is, in fact, not a work, and Owens appears to be out for an extended amount of time with possible neck fusion surgery.

Owens appeared on the “My Mom’s Basement” podcast (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) to discuss the injury further. Owens believes the injury happened in a match in January, and he’s been wrestling with the neck injury since then.

The former WWE Universal Champion also spoke about returning to the ring and how he intends to do that, but he would know more when he talked to the doctors today, April 7th.

“I know I’ll come back — or at the very least, I really hope I come back. I guess there’s…I never take anything for granted in what we do, so who knows? But it’s pretty likely I’ll come back. And then, maybe we could do it (talking about the match with Orton at WrestleMania) eventually.”

Everyone here at Turnbuckles Times wishes Kevin Owens a speedy recovery and hopes to see him back soon!
