The boxing world mourns the loss of one of boxing’s greats, “Big” George Foreman. He was one of the most charismatic and beloved boxers in history! His family announced the news on his social media account.

Foreman was an Olympic Gold Medalist in 1968, who fought some of the greatest boxers of all time, including Joe Fraiser, Mohammad Ali, and Evander Holyfield.

He was a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, winning the title for the second time against Michael Moorer in 1994. He became the oldest heavyweight in history to win the championship at the age of 45. A record that still stands today!

His ferocious power was rare in boxing. The Ring Magazine named Foreman the ninth-greatest puncher of all time, and in 2002, he was named among the 25 best boxers of the past 80 years.

Big George had many accolades as a boxer, but his influence went well beyond the boxing ring. He was a ring announcer for many years at HBO Boxing. As well as the face of the George Foreman Grill, which he sold over 100 million of.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, his twelve children, fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Everyone here at Turnbuckle Times sends our condolences to the entire Foreman family.
